Great Result for the Musgrove Cup Charity Day
On the 7th August, Taunton Vale Golf Club held their annual Musgrove Cup Charity Day to raise funds for the League of Friends of Taunton hospitals.
The focus of all efforts this year was to raise money to give specifically to the COMPASS team. COMPASS are a specialist team that support families as they cope with the emotional and physical effects of living with a child suffering from a life limiting or life threatening illness.
A Team Effort
Local business excelled this year and all holes were sponsored from early on. All the green fees for the day were donated by the owners of the Club.
Heafield School helped by holding a non-uniform day and local firms donated prizes and services including a raffle and BBQ which ran throughout the day. All of this was manned by an army of members - this was a truly massive team effort!

An Outstanding Result
As a result of the day and the very generous efforts of all involved, a cheque was presented at TVGC on Wednesday 13th October to Rosemary McHugh (Chair) of the League of Friends and to the COMPASS team – Suzanne Heayns and Linda Deeley for £10,000!
This is an outstanding amount and typifies the long and unique relationship between the Taunton Vale Golf Club and the League of Friends.
Vice-Captain Rhys Morgan said on the day:
“I am very proud to be part of such a wonderful team effort and as a teacher of 30 years am delighted that we have raised such a great amount for such a worthwhile cause and hopefully it will give help to young children and their families in such a stressful time of their lives.”
In it’s 16th year, the £100,000 mark is very close with £94,000 raised to date.
Next year TVGC celebrates it’s 20th year and is looking forward to going through the £100,000 target!
